There’s something both exhilarating and humbling about standing at the beginning of a new story. The blank page doesn’t just ask for words—it asks for courage, imagination, and a willingness to follow where the story leads, even when the path isn’t fully clear.

Lately, I’ve been working on a new book that continues my love for historical fiction—stories rooted in the past but alive with emotion, resilience, and human connection. This new project is set in the American South during a time of hardship and quiet strength, where communities are bound together not just by geography, but by necessity, tradition, and heart.

At its center is a strong yet uncertain female protagonist—someone navigating loss, responsibility, and the pull between what life has handed her and what she dares to build for herself. As she steps into unfamiliar territory, she’ll encounter both kindness and resistance, forcing her to grow in ways she never expected.

I’m especially encouraged by how this story is coming together. I’m roughly three-quarters of the way through the manuscript, and the narrative has found a steady rhythm. The characters feel grounded and fully alive, and the emotional arc is unfolding in a way that feels both natural and compelling. It’s at that rewarding stage where the threads are beginning to weave together, and the heart of the story is clearly taking shape.

What draws me most to this book is its focus on overlooked history—the everyday lives that rarely make it into textbooks but are rich with meaning. From the rhythms of rural life to the unique ways people adapted to their environment, this story explores a world shaped by both struggle and ingenuity.
